Fossil-Free Building Heat at Construction Sites
Fossil oil is an energy source used to provide heat at construction sites. It is a form of crude oil that has been formed through the decay and transformation of dead animals and plants over long periods and under high pressure and temperatures. Fossil oil can be used to produce heating oil, natural gas and other fossil fuels used for heating.
Heating oil is the most common form of fossil oil used for heating at construction sites. It is an evaporated form of oil that is burned to produce heat. It is a very rich energy source, but it is also one of the most harmful to the environment, as it releases large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases when burned.
Natural gas is another form of fossil oil used for heating at construction sites. It is an evaporated form of oil consisting of a mixture of hydrocarbons, like methane and propane. It is a very energetic source, but it is also a potentially dangerous source because it is explosive and can cause damage if mishandled.
As you can see, fossil oil is a common energy source for heating at construction sites, but it is also a source that has significant negative impacts on the environment and can be dangerous to use.
Oil ban at construction sites from January 1, 2022
From January 1, 2022, it is prohibited to use fossil oil for drying and heating at construction sites.
In the considerations that were made, it is estimated that the ban can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 85,000 tons of CO2 per year, until 2030. This would correspond to emissions from about 42,500 fossil cars annually.
Before the ban came, it was common to use fossil oil (mineral oil) for temporary heating and drying at construction sites, often in the form of a heat unit fueled by diesel.
Fossil-Free Construction Sites
Fossil-free building heating is a method of providing heat to buildings without the use of fossil fuels like heating oil or natural gas. This means that the technologies and energy sources used to provide heat must be renewable and environmentally friendly.
One way to achieve fossil-free building heating is to use solar energy. Solar panels can be installed on the roof of a building to convert sunlight into electricity. This energy can be used to power heat pumps and heat water, among other things. This is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective method, as solar energy is renewable and free to use.
Another method for providing fossil-free building heat is to use renewable biofuels. This can mean using wood or pellets made from trees, grass, or other biological material that are burned to create heat. This is also an environmentally friendly method as the biological material can be recycled and used again, at the same time reducing the need for fossil fuels.
A third method for achieving fossil-free building heat is to use heat pumps. These units use electrical energy to convert air, water, or soil into heat, which can then be used to heat buildings. This is an environmentally friendly method as it does not use fossil fuels, and it can also be cost-effective as it can use renewable electricity.
Challenges around implementing fossil-free building heat
Implementing fossil-free building heating can, however, be a challenge. It may require investments in technology and equipment, as well as changes in buildings. The biggest challenge might be the costs of replacing all existing equipment with new, fossil-free equipment.
We have extensive expertise in the area and several years of experience in fossil-free solutions, both for heating and drying. We have a large rental stock and can help adapt solutions that meet your needs.
Rental of temporary fossil-free building heat
There are several advantages to renting fossil-free building heat. One of the biggest advantages is that it helps reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. By using renewable energy sources to provide heat, you can reduce your dependency on fossil fuels and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Another advantage of renting fossil-free building heat is that it can be cost-effective. Some renewable energy sources, like solar energy and biofuels, are free to use and can help reduce heating costs. Heat pumps can also be cost-effective, as they can use renewable electricity to produce heat.
Another reason to rent fossil-free building heat is that it can be simple and convenient. We deliver and install the equipment, and handle all maintenance. This makes it easy for the building owner to use the technology without having to worry about the details.
