The Challenge
During the construction of Gardermoen Terminal North there was a critical need for a reliable heat source to accelerate the drying process during the construction phase, as well as a solution to keep sidewalks free of ice throughout the winter. The challenge required a robust and flexible heat solution that could cover a large area efficiently.
The Solution
Energy Rent delivered two rounds of heating equipment to meet the different phases of the project. In the first instance, 2 x 1.5 MW mobile heat stations along with 3 x Heatboy EH36 units were delivered. For the second instance, three additional mobile boilers, each of 1.5 MW, were delivered to increase the total heat capacity to 4.5 MW. This equipment was strategically placed to maximize efficiency for both the drying process inside the construction project and for ice-free operation of the sidewalks around the construction site.
The Result
The mobile heat stations and boilers ensured quick and even drying of building materials, which was crucial for keeping the construction project on schedule. At the same time, the heating solution contributed to keeping the sidewalks around the construction site ice-free, improving safety for both workers and visitors. The solution ensured continuous operation without interruption due to weather conditions, and helped to streamline the construction process under challenging winter conditions.
