The Challenge
IVAR IKS is building one of Norway's largest biogas plants for the treatment of sludge, food waste and other organic waste at Grødaland. It was essential to find a reliable cooling solution that could handle the high heat loads from biogas production to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant.
The Solution
To meet the cooling requirements of the biogas plant, Energy Rent delivered 6 dry coolers along with the necessary amounts of glycol and a number of plate heat exchangers. This combination was chosen to maximize cooling efficiency and ensure stable temperature control in the critical processes. The installation of dry coolers allowed for an emission-free and energy-efficient cooling solution that could be seamlessly integrated with the plant's design.
The Result
Thanks to the tailored cooling solution, the thermal requirements of the biogas production were efficiently managed, ensuring smooth operation and optimised processes. This has helped to improve both the efficiency and sustainability of the plant, which is important for IVAR IKS's goal of environmentally friendly energy production.
